2010 Basecamp

Whatever you want to talk about, but keep it clean

2010 Basecamp

Postby Boofredlay » Fri Jul 09, 2010 2:33 pm

Hey all, I received my invite to the 3D Basecamp yesterday. I have some nominations left so if there are any of you who wish to go and can, please send me a PM with your name and email. SketchUcation forums has been flooded with info about it as well as threads such as this one. So I figure it was safe to ask here as well.

Interesting...have you ever been? Is this the first year they are doing this?

It's my anniversary weekend...but I have been looking for a sketchup/rendering conference to attend this year...there don't seem to be many out there.

I might be interested if the wife will go for it.

I'm reading through the SketchUCation thread right now...sounds like it would be worth the trip.
I have the wife's blessing and you have a pm.

Thanks

Anyone else needing a nomination I have 10 as well to hand out before the 21st...wouldn't hurt to have one from each of us just to make sure it takes!

We're here!
SU8 was run through today and we got a bamboo flash drive with the install (of course, you can just down load it).
Looks as if they still aren't doing 64bit... :( I'm sad. But there was a hint that one of the unconferences could discuss the "why" they don't see the need to go 64 bit. They'll probably schedule that one at the same time as a very popular event so I will have to decide whether to hear their excuses...or see the cool thing. Won't know that until tomorrow morning.

Got to meet Eric! Really nice dude...hope to meet some other folks tonight.

I was pretty disappointed that they said not only are they not planning to do 64bit, they don't even see the value of it!

(I think they are all Mac users anyway, which would explain why they aren't in a big hurry).

They said some of them might not work... And mine doesn't!!! That's what you get for making a flash drive out of bamboo. :D Luckily I downloaded SU8 this morning.

Yeah, mine worked...loaded it up when I got back to the room.

I posed the question about 64 bit on the way to eat dinner with the SketchUp crew, lead by Scott. They did say that there would be an advantage when we ran through why it would be needed...but they didn't say any more than that. It was while we were walking so easy for a conversation to die while looking both ways to cross the street.
