With SU2024, they changed the required Ruby version from 2.7 (which it has been at for the last 5 years or so) to 3.2. Yes, Rosetta is still required for macOS on the M-series chips.

In order to use Twilight Render on an M1/M2/M3 processor you have to use Rosetta.

Lights are separate objects and so that should definitely not be happening. However if you have a Component Definition with a light in it, all Component Instances of that definition will use that same light. It works the same as any other SketchUp component. Twilight Render will be available for the entirety of 2024, including any re-licensing (if you move to a new computer or what-not).
