Thanks for the thumbs up Fletch. Checked the wood and as suspected it is probably flat. To be more precise the message came up 'legacy generic custom'. I presume this is because the drawing is an earlier version from an old project I am re-doing......I finally have the time now to indulge myself and...

Thanks for the comments. Yes the wood should be darker- this was a concept sketch so was a bit lazy trying to find a good match. Here is a pic of how it turned out. EDIT: here's another small bar built into a confined space below a basement staircase.

Forgot about that pre-flight checklist. Have even got an old printed out version so no excuses really. The other useful check is regarding 'white' which of course I have ignored so the shopfront woodwork is mostly blown highlight. We live and learn....eventually. Many thanks again for the advice.

Thanks for the thumbs up. I am very bad at checking faces so will go back and have a look. Fletch has also picked up on this on another post of mine. Obviously a recurring problem!

Many thanks for the useful info. I have always had problems getting convincing BRUSHED metallics on the the low setting for interiors. Infact I have had to resort to full shiny because brushed/satin looked so terrible. I shall give some higher settings a go on some old sketches that I know were quic...

Really nice. Obviously the only way to get great render quality is to give it time! I May have to get a new computer.....
