Re: Light Components sampler scene

Hey fletch,
The wooden spoon material looks a bit funky, check if you have the face inverted or an inverted fresnel map somewhere.

Re: LiDAR scanning

A tip for everyone, If you want to scan an asset for rendering, try to scan in the most evenly lit environment you can find. The best place to scan is somewhere outdoors on an extremely overcast day and, if you can, white floor. Any existing environmental light will be baked into your model. Have fu...

Re: LED wall, Virtual Production

Thanks Mike,
It took me quite a while to learn how to get the grounds looking natural. Though luscious grass still isn't my thing, as a matter of fact, I can't do hair and fur in general at all. I'm thinking of trying Scatter for that.

Re: LED wall, Virtual Production

Thanks Fletch, it's a mixture of sandbox ground with PBR textures, plus 3dscanned rocks with procedural specular map to break up the smooth reflections, plus grass here and there. Simple stuff really.

LED wall, Virtual Production

Hey guys, I haven't been on here for a while, quite busy with work. But I've been working on this small scene on and off for the last few days. I was inspired by the virtual production seen on "The Mandalorian", "The Batman" and most recently "1899". Obviously, this sce...

Re: LiDAR scanning

Yes, and since using it, the technology has been slotting into my workflow perfectly. I can pull rough measurements directly from the model, with an accuracy of about ±1cm for every 5m. In that case, I can confidently plan the next design phase, and create drawings for my workers quite easily. And i...

Re: LiDAR scanning

And as for sharing, there's a share button at the bottom right of the screen when you're viewing the model.
Press that, then 'Export Model', and choose the file type. From there, you can airdrop to your Mac (if you have one) or email to yourself and access it from your PC. Or however you like.

Re: LiDAR scanning

Hi Dave, regarding your question,
How do I determine if my iPhone has LiDAR capability? Is that part of the Scaniverse app?

If your device has a small dark circle about 6mm or 1/4" in diameter on the bottom right of the camera module, then it supports LiDAR.
And yes, it says on the app as well.

Re: LiDAR scanning

When you scan something, how do you get a full 3D object (how do you get a full 360% view)?
Yes, you just go around the object, keeping your device steady. Just like taking a video, the app will take care of the rest. :)

Re: LiDAR scanning

Thanks Dave! What are the requirements for installing/using the application? I'm using a free app called Scaniverse on iOS, it works best on the Pro model iPhones from 12 onwards, essentially any iPhone with LiDAR capability. But if your iPhone doesn't have Lidar, then it switches to photogrammetry ...
