Re: Cliff House

Thanks, Chris and Fletch for your advise. I am re-rendering with the settings that you have mentioned above and it's in the oven cooking away right now. And I do believe I have an understanding of why the wall looks blackened behind the curtains. I believe it is that little known factor called - sha...

Re: Cliff House

Yep, I forgot to activate my license that's why I wasn't seeing the Deep Material editor. (silly me!!) And you're right about the wine glass material. It had to be something added other than through Twilight. One thing that still puzzles me - behind the curtains at the front of the building, the wal...

Re: Cliff House

Yes, I do get that warning saying that the material is a Deep Material. How do I edit/apply a Deep Material? And, yes, that is the Twilight Render log. It is saying that Material 20 cannot be loaded. I haven't the faintest idea what material in the scene is Material 20. It has happened before I impo...

Re: Cliff House

Fletch, Having some problems applying materials through Twilight. I downloaded the wine glass and imported it into my scene. When I did a test rendering, the glass came out dark just like the other glasses I had in there, When I checked to see what the material settings were, they were set to defaul...

Re: Cliff House

Thanks Fletch!! Any critique is appreciated as it helps me to see things that I otherwise would have missed. I will definitely try the denoise programs (I didn't know they existed). Yep, your right about the tile floor - it kinda looks cheap. I will replace the wine glasses and work on the table. Th...

Cliff House

This was a project in my Arch Design 3 class last fall. We had to design a house that overlooked a cliff. The cliff I chose was the Grand Canyon. I don't do things small...

Re: OS X Mavericks

I figured out what I believe was the cause of the crashing. I had a gazillion trees in my scene. After reducing the quantity of tress, everything worked fine. I been rendering for about an hour (medium+_AA4(ultra)) and it's running without any problems. I guess with all of those trees the photons ki...

Re: OS X Mavericks

OK, here's what happened this time. While rendering at Prelim, the amount of memory used was roughly around 2.32 gb. The scene finished rendering. When I was waiting for the fan speed on my computer to drop back to normal (about 1.5 minutes) SketchUp crashed. Closed down. Boom. When I restarted Sket...

Re: OS X Mavericks

I have 16gb of ram. I will give another test run while watching the ram amount being used. Once I have the data, I will let you know. Thanks!

Re: OS X Mavericks

Today I had the same problem. (or similar problem) I can render my first rendering session on Prelim and it renders fine. When I change to a higher setting, it will crash, Twilight and SketchUp will close. I think it's a Mavericks problem. I had other problems with my computer since I've installed M...
