The forks should have 1,2m long at least, and please dont say them are retractable.
The top bar will confine height for the shunter.

If you truly want to test light, you should test it inside a textured box along with some piramids cubes and sphears.

I also am a fan of this kind of scenes. I like best the lighting in the first two images with the physical improve of the other ones. You must get on detail of that "supposed" distribution transformers things or get them lost. Of course get into details is for people that have nothing else...

What I meant was, the more you zoom the image of the model, the curved surfaces need more segments. To what Kronox explained (better than I), not happen. If you do a rendering of a locomotive and some wagons, curved surfaces do not need so many segments. Of course I'm talking about a median image re...

If it is your intention to do only the locomotive than 48 segments is a good number.
