aha... yes - be sure any smoothed curved surfaces in SketchUp are either GROUPED or inside of a COMPONENT.
For some reason, without that, they will not be rendered smoothly. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

OK, remember when rendering Gemstones (Highly suggest to use the gemstone material library): lighting setup is key. HDRI will be good combined with one light in the scene. Try the Easy Settings Folder "Medium+" or "High+" setting for better AA
Even Low+ may look really good and be faster - but caustics may or may not be good with that setting.

Here's "camera 3" with Bye Bye Blue Sky Treatment to eliminate the blue from the HDR sky lighting, and then a treatment with the free and amazing Motiva Real Camera
