Re: Optics
Here is the scene. To answer your questions, 'Cast Shadows' is ignored but soft shadows does matter. I have it turned off for the light in this scene. The trick to creating the light beam is actually to shine it through a narrow slit in the wall (lower left in the image). This creates the "line...

Re: Mac version
We likely will need testers when we get to that point, but we aren't there yet. No timeline, unfortunately, on when we'll have it available.

Optics
I was playing around the other night with optics too. The prisms both use the diamond library material and the mirrors are architectural glass, perfect mirror. The render sucks, overall, because I didn't put any actual effort into it, but I though the effects were cool. DOWNLOAD SCENE FOR TWILIGHT R...

Not a big fan of the soft focus either, but the render is great!

Driving without a face is...dangerous
One of the first scenes I ever did with Twilight. Animated with SketchyPhysics. Lego-man rocks!

Re: Headlights and cherrytops...
Twilights materials work more or less just like SU. If you apply an SU material to a group or component, that material is applied to all the faces that don't have their own material. It works basically the same, except the group / component material will override a 'back' material every time (where ...

Re: Headlights and cherrytops...
... with real emitter - it would matter A LOT How so? This is somewhat of a difficult question. Twilight uses a material priority order to accommodate SketchUp's 2-face material system. You can find more about it here . How it's relevant to emissive faces is this: If you have 1 material applied to ...

Re: Existing library materials and the new release...
Hi tom, Libraries are referenced by name only. Generally this isn't very safe, but for now there is no other adequate way of referencing them. If you have a library with multiple entries with the same name, your likely to see some strange behavior. In addition, if you change the names in the library...

Re: Headlights and cherrytops...
Adds a big improvement, definitely.
In general, there is no benefit or use to painting back faces. Twilight will try to 'accomodate' back faces, but there is no advantage or special feature to doing so. It should be avoided if possible.
