Re: Twilight Render "vs." Thea

Hi Fletch, I'll have to look the settings up tonight; note that I changed the bare minimum in each; default everything for Twilight, and only changed to BSD for Thea. Anyway - I also have to read the Twilight manual :) Is there one more comprehensive than the Quick Start Guide? However, in the meant...

Re: Twilight Render "vs." Thea

Hi Chris / all - Ok, here are a few comparitive renders. Twilight was on default and Thea was default but set to Adaptive BSD, outdoor . Basically, the shadowing is more pronounced in the Thea renders, with more apparent reflected light in the (much faster, e.g. 6 seconds vs. 18 seconds) Twilight re...

Re: Listing/reference of available materials?

Thanks Chris.

Might be good, if possible, to do a WordPress-style CMS that lets contributors select from many categories so that searches and grouping is relatively automatic!

Cheers

Re: Listing/reference of available materials?

"Updated" meaning some type of comprehensive list (maybe from a database) beyond what comes standard with the release, and hopefully, something regularly updated (or live) vs. 1x per year or something.

So, again... does anything like this exist?

thanks,
Andrew

Re: Twilight Render "vs." Thea

Thanks for the quick reply! You are correct - I'm not referring to sun shadows, rather shadows cast by ambient light. As noted I'm not at the computer I use for this stuff, but I'm attaching the basic form. The back wall, behind the shapes, is the area I was referring to. In each case (Twilight and ...

Re: Listing/reference of available materials?

Hi Fletch -

That's too bad - it could be a great marketing tool.

I can only assume there isn't actually any updated reference other than what's in the Red Carpet section?

thanks,
Andrew

Twilight Render "vs." Thea

Hi everyone - this isn't at all meant to start a debate; I own Thea Render and am considering Twilight. Twilight is very fast. However, in rendering the same scene, I'm finding that Twilight is much faster/cleaner, but Thea is perhaps more accurate in terms of shadows? I'm not at my computer right n...

Listing/reference of available materials?

Hi all,

I'm evaluating TR v2 and enjoying it. However - a main use is for quick visualization, so I'm wondering is anyone can tell me if there is a reference to the materials in the "Red Carpet" library?

thanks!

Re: Soft shadows from luminous aperture in .ies files?

Thanks Fletch. Looks like the way to go will be to use a fake emitter, invisible triangle, and .ies for each final fixture. I'd like to use very basic lights while setting the scene up... I am currently looking through the manual to figure out if I can easily swap out basic fixtures for the final on...
