Miguel, think about it carefully, the i7 is the better machine for rendering, and it can be upgraded next year or the year after to 12 threads. Oh hell yeah, I got a 940 i7 @ stock standard 2.93Mhz, running Vista ultimate 64 bit, 12GB DDR3 Corsair dominator ram and a Geforce 285 1GB, what a monster rendering machine. I have the extreme water cooling kit and you cannot even hear a sound even if the machine is open.
