Re: House at the beach

I like it as it is.

Just asking...why would you need lights on during the day? or are you planning a night render also?

Re: Best bang for the buck for stingy renderers?

Miguel, the way I see it: The i5 vs i7 is simple , the i5 is a mainstream setup and the i7 are now more enthusiast. The i5 does not have multi-threading and cannot be clocked at i7 speeds, so for apps that take advantage of multi threading like most render software it's a no brainer that the i7 will...

Re: Best bang for the buck for stingy renderers?

Miguel, think about it carefully, the i7 is the better machine for rendering, and it can be upgraded next year or the year after to 12 threads. IMO you would be penny wise and pound foolish not to spend the difference and get the better machine. I see you wrestling yourself with this decision, tryin...

Re: Want a fast machine?

Heads up, first quater next year the i9 will be available.

32nm 6 core 12 thread CPU's, the good news is if you have an i7 and a X58 mobo you will be able to upgrade your chipset with only needing a bios upgrade.

Re: Share photography tips applicable to rendering

I've also wondered this before, I cannot take a photo to save my life, but can sketch and paint, so maybe what I lack in one I make up with the other.

Re: Want a fast machine?

Oh hell yeah, I got a 940 i7 @ stock standard 2.93Mhz, running Vista ultimate 64 bit, 12GB DDR3 Corsair dominator ram and a Geforce 285 1GB, what a monster rendering machine. I have the extreme water cooling kit and you cannot even hear a sound even if the machine is open.
