Re: Rendering Inspiration
Real Wire Frame Subaru Sculpture by Benedict Radcliffe British artist Benedict Radcliffe created this amazing, full-scale sculpture of a Subaru Impreza. It looks like a computer model overlayed on a street photo, but it’s real, complete with Yokohama wire frame tires. Apparently local traffic cops ...

Re: Error initalizing Twilight Render
also free to try and easy to do:
download and install SketchUp 8 alongside your SU7 installation - they can both be installed on a system without a problem.
Install Twilight to SU8
see if same problem occurs.

Re: material by layer
That's great, Ben! It took me a long time to get used to thinking the way SketchUp thinks (I'm an architect, and I come from a heavy CAD/3dsMax/Revit background as well).
How would you handle mapping bricks or wood texture properly in SU on a curved surface using this method? Or turning them 45*?

Nice machine!
Something seems odd how bright the light is at the base, did you change any settings? (exposure, or lighting)

Re: Error initalizing Twilight Render
Sorry to hear of this. As Frederik mentioned, there's definitely no conflict between the two, as they work hand-in-hand. When you installed Twilight, were you paying careful attention to which folder it was installed? (did you install to SU8 folder, but only have SU7.x installed?) Did you try to cus...

Re: light and material study
needs a more directional light, because they are white and reflective, adding light would not likely help (but who's to say?). a dark surface for the angles pointing left, and a light surface for the angles pointing right may work. (or just some quick highlights in photoshop could work fastest and g...

Re: light and material study
That's a "keeper". I really like the floor reflection, and it describes really well your intended "look" of the piece. It's excellent work, beginning to end.
Which render setting? (curiosity)

Re: material by layer
for instance, (to be clear what Chris is saying) I have read elsewhere regarding SU's application programming interface (API) and it is not possible to even change a layer's color by ruby because of the lack of interaction allowed by outside applications to that function. (at least this was the case...

Re: material by layer
Twilight materials are determined solely by texture/color. In Twilight, SketchUp layers are not for materials. They are for objects. To control visibility of objects in SU you can hide the object, or put it on a layer and turn it on and off. Can you tell me, how does one even apply a material by lay...
