Re: Perforated metal
Thanks a lot. It was real easy making a png file in GIMP with a yellow color and clear holes. In SketchUp and Twilight I applied a perfect reflection template ("tile" )and turned the IOR up to four. Looks like brass screen. No need to add a reflection image. that was a rough test. I am mak...

Perforated metal
I want to try a material that is similar to perforated brass. I think this can be done with png image, and probably a reflection image (so the metal reflects but not the holes)? There may have been some discussion of this here before.

Fast metallic Texture
Hi, Any ideas to create a fast metallic shiny or not so shiny texture? Using Easy 09 (08 for that matter). It takes many passses for the metal to look anything but black. Maybe I am going about the texture wrong (using default templates usually). The rest of the rendering may be OK and the metal is ...

Re: How to use the Alpha Mask / Alpha Channel
I often use alpha mask and for windows that may have glass and look through to the rear, the HDR image I use in rendering is often OK. That is, it is similar enough to the background picture I want to add in postpro. Perhaps you can use a HDR background in the rendering where the transparency effect...

Re: Shadow Catcher or Sky Projection Mapping
Looks great! Is there a shadow catcher as well for when you want to use another background in post pro? That would be a translucent shadow image that exports with the rendering?

Re: Rendering On MacBookPro
Video makes me dislike my Mac! I need it for certain software and generally enjoy using it, but if I continue much with rendering I'll just need another machine.

Re: Rendering On MacBookPro
I agree a heating pad will be a good idea, especially because I just bought a new -old replacment MBP. (Does anyone have recommendations?) But I wonder why, if Twilight is rendering in the background, does the heat and fan go down. It's only when rendering and having SketchUp active (not doing anyth...

Rendering On MacBookPro
I've often struggled to understand what's going on with rendering on the MBP. If I have rendering going, Power adapter on. "Never sleep" setting, the rendering seems to be going on OK and CPU shows full activity when another program is active. OK. But the fan becomes quiet and the computer...
