Re: Wonderful New PC's
I called tech support after getting an alternative pc. Instead of two cpu's it had one with core 2 duo (8 cores and one chip as explained). When I got it here and checked it out there were a few errors. The system (F2) setup would not allow me to change settings boot from the hard drive, instead it ...

Re: How fast you are ?
Hi Oli, as an update I have finally got to the bottom of this farcical event. Not 100% happy but I can live with the result. I have an almost identical pc which has 1 (ONE) chip with 8 cores. I know someone out there will understand the core 2 duo better tahn I but that is just me being an old gart....

Sorry Fletch I must have my head up my chair today, what with the good news and all. Did I mention my bank account is expecting? Well today the new pc (all that dual quad core lovliness), may not happen after all. I purchased and paid for the machine last saturday and the rep assured me I would get ...

5 year old Dell dimension 5100 running a single 3ghz p4. Nvidia 6800 with 512 mb and 4gb ram. Allowing for the two threads which can be accessed for various file sharing etc tasks, 3m 30seconds is not too shabby. Managed to get hold of a replacement which I am awaiting collection notification on. Al...

Re: Idiots guide or 'rendering for dummies'.
Hi Fletch, sorry, I think I managed to miss the target by a country mile. I was not talking about the twilight team coming up with such a piece of work, rather a general tome which deals with the rendering art as a whole. From start to finish, what is meant by anti-aliasing etc and general tips on t...

Re: Idiots guide or 'rendering for dummies'.
Thanks guys, not alone then. I appreciate that there are tips out there and here they are probably some of the best, however, My renders will not match those of the cogniscenti here and while I do not go for envy can see myself not achieving the same without more understanding of the techniques invo...

Idiots guide or 'rendering for dummies'.
While I have rendered with a few programs now, I have barely scratched the surface of what is possible. I have a tutorial for TurboCad which I bought several years ago and frankly it was written in another language. I feel that there is room for someone with talent to produce a simple rendering tuto...
