Re: light and material study

Your info says you are from Montreal, so it would naturally follow that you may understand a word or 2 of French. ;) Light through or reflecting from a surface is called a "Caustic". When you render with Easy09, caustics do not show well with sun/sky, point, or spot lights... they show bes...

Hi JeZ, bienvenue, :welcome: For wood, I use Plastic template most of the time... I find myself cranking up shininess sometimes to 600, 1000, 1500, even 5000 depending on the situation. The Plastic "Shiny" template defaults to 180. For Ceramic tile floor, I may not even use bump, or just a...

Re: Hotel room

from the specular reflection on the shiny wall below the "odd shadow" you mention, it appears that the corner of the room there is built from a glass curtainwall/storefront system, and is therefore allowing sun to shine in without being covered with curtains there.

Re: Living Room

I think it's a beautiful render, I think many people don't comment because they would have a hard time critiquing, or don't feel they are capable of doing an image of equal quality... dont' worry, it's a great image! I can tell the difference with the couch material. The bump/specular map for...

Re: Tree Challenge

yes, it's better, and for middle-ground trees (not too close to the camera) I think it works great. But as stated in the post with the tutorial, it is not physically accurate by any stretch of the imagination. I would not be able to tell from your images you provide above how it is working with phys...

Re: GH House Excercise

lovely render (I've now attached the images to the forum so they will not be lost in the future)
I think the glow is over-done. Just a little glow to give subtle dreamy softness can be a good thing... too much becomes distracting.

Re: ANIMATION INSIDE RENDER

I'm not sure I know which animation you are thinking of. Please read manual about how to render animations in SU with Twilight. If you wish to animate a flickering fireplace, then you would have different "flickers" of "flames" in each scene (controlling visibility with layers an...
