Thanks Oli....and just a note on the ivy...
I'm getting good results by applying several hits with the fur plug-in onto the same face so that you have several groups sitting there.
By moving, say one, group forward slightly its possible to add a bit more depth and shadow variation.

Anothere source of Extra Fine Quality [In fact the very best you will find] small plants in SU format can be found here http://www.ozbreed.com.au/3d-graphics.html Download the two SketchUp folders Actually Australian and New Zealand natives but fairly generic in appearance. Treat them as SU components

Woops, sorry......I used Archiforge so long ago I forgot about the maskstallini wrote: I tried stu's method, inserting the image into SU, but i don't know how to use the alpha mask to delete the background

Re. the plants....My preference is always to use photoreal cutouts. I'm not too sure about the timber cladding texture in the second image....it looks a bit like a flooring texture.
