SketchUp 2022 and Twilight Render 2.16

Post by Chris » Wed Jan 26, 2022 9:14 pm

A new version of SketchUp was released today, v2022.

We have released a compatibility version of Twilight Render to target the new release, v2.16. As always, it can be downloaded on our webpage here: https://www.twilightrender.com/index.php/downloads

Along with the SU2022 compatibility, our new TWR Pro release contains a great new feature. Under Extensions -> Twilight Render V2, you will find a new option, Download Twilight Render Resources.

When you click on this new feature, TWR will download all the latest official Twilight Render models directly into SketchUp. Once the download is complete, you will be able to find all the models in the Component Browser, under the Twilight Render folder!
The download progresses in the background, and SketchUp will notify you when it is complete. Download times depend on your connection speed, of course, but typically should complete in under 5 minutes.

Please note, there is an issue with the macOS version of the most recent release. We will notify you when we get it fixed.

The identified issue with macOS has been fixed. However, there is another larger problem with macOS.

SketchUp 2022 automatically identifies the platform being used on macOS and can run natively on M1 processors (the arm64e architecture). Unfortunately, Twilight Render is not compatible with the arm64e architecture and so it can not run when SketchUp is running in native mode on M1.
Currently, the solution is to run SketchUp 2022 using Rosetta. This will run it in compatibility mode (x86_64) and will allow Twilight Render to run successfully.

At the moment it is unknown whether an M1 native version of Twilight Render is possible. We will keep you up to date on future developments.
