Announcing Twilight Render V2.2

Post by Chris » Tue Feb 03, 2015 7:31 pm

We are releasing our next major version today, V2.2! Along with some great new features, we have fixed the 64 bit memory crash bug on Windows!

We recommend all users upgrade as soon as possible.

Bugs:
  • The memory related crash in the 64-bit Kerkythea render engine has been fixed! The fix is currently only for Windows (as we aren't sure if it is affecting OSX or not; if it is, we will get an update for that as well). If you have had scenes crash SketchUp, please test them out after installing the latest release and let us know if you continue to experience problems (again, Windows only). Of course this won't prevent a crash if you simply run out of RAM.
  • Fixed the emitter template efficiency value to use efficiency percentage correctly. Emitter templates were producing over-bright efficiencies. This fix won't modify your existing scenes.
  • Fixed crash in Render History window
  • Increased the size of the Option window on OSX so it no longer cuts off the Activation textbox
  • Fixed display of template names in the Template Material editor. The name of the selected template should now be displayed correctly instead of always listing as "Custom".
  • Fixed the Diagnostic Report to display the name and size of embedded SketchUp texture images. This is a Pro feature and helps you identify overly large textures. A must have!
  • Fixed rendering animations with animated GIFs. Some GIF types were displaying incorrectly and this should now be fixed.
  • Fixed several Deep Material editor and material library bugs, including materials libraries that weren't importing correctly.
  • Fixed material conversion (V1 to V2) search function. Twilight Render will now search subdirectories to locate material libraries for converting from V1.
Features:
  • We've added a new material library importer that allows users of both Hobby and Pro to easily import materials from Twilight Render material libraries. You can now configure the directories to look in for material libraries, then within the Library Browser you can visually select the material to import. And it's available for Hobby too! Note, Pro is still required to edit the imported materials. You can find it in the Template Material Editor under Tools -> Import Library.

  • Disabled section cut rendering by default. We have received quite a few questions from users who don't realize they even have section planes in their scenes! This is especially true of SU 2014 and earlier which doesn't inform plugins that Section Plane display is turned off. Having to intentionally turn on section plane rendering will ensure that section cuts don't accidentally render in your scene when you don't want them! Section cut rendering can be enabled from the Settings menu of the Render windows.

  • Added user search paths for setting what directories to look in when converting materials from V1 to V2 as well as what folders are available for the Material Library Browser (above). You can add or remove directories by opening the Twilight Render Options window and choosing Directories. This list of directories is also where the Library Browser will look for material libraries. You can always add more directly from the Library Browser by choosing the "Browse" option.
Again, all users should upgrade as soon as possible.
