Rendering Alpha Mask

Post by Paul Russam » Mon Jan 16, 2017 10:57 am

When I render using the AlphaMask preset I get a black and white image but no matter what I try I can't get it to be transparent, I've tried saving it as png and tif but it's still solid black and white.
What do I need to do to produce png's with transparent backgrounds?

Solved it myself by working through multiple combinations of commands.

Follow tutorial. Subject: Background Image / Picture Using Alpha Mask
Alpha mask is balck and white until you put it as the "mask" for a layer in gimp or photoshop... then the white areas will be transparent, and black areas will be solid.

Yea, it took me a little while to find it but in Affinity Photo the command is 'Rasterize to Mask' in the Layers menu. It didn't help that there was another layer command called 'Mask'
