Render interior without lighting??

Post by bpfawks » Tue Mar 06, 2018 6:43 pm

I have an interior model with furniture and I was wondering if there is a setting to render without adding artificial lighting or using the sun as a primary light source.

I would like the model to appear as it does in Sketch Up with a more realistic look - I don't want to add light sources for fixtures, lamps, etc.

If this isn't an option, is it possible to add one light source to illuminate the whole room without a bright light source? I've played with the light tool and each light source has a bright central point.

Please help !

Is your model open (meaning no roof / limited walls) or closed? Especially if it's open, set the Background to Sky Color, choose a white-to-gray color, and then disable the sun. That will give you a uniform lighting. You can do the same even if the model is closed but it will be less effective.

what you are looking for is a render setting called "ambient occlusion" unfortunately the "amb occ" for Twilight is something different from a true "ambient occlusion"

Chris gives good advice, that will get you closest to what you want - try rendering with roof off, sun disabled, and sky color (not background color!!!!) set to very light grey or white. Render with render setting Easy 04 at first. For highest final quality use Easy09 and be patient.

You could put a single large plane just below the ceiling - make sure the front face is pointing down into the room you want to light, paint with white, and apply emitter template, set light emitting surface material to be invisible. Keep the sides of the light emitting face about 2 feet/60cm from the adjacent walls. Test the lighting with only the walls/floor/ceiling of the space showing, all other geometry hidden to save time testing your lighting scheme. Render again with Easy 04 for good test quality, then Easy 09 for final quality.

I’m not doing much renderings, but there is Interior: Sun Only setting in rendering dialog box. If there is no ext. light available, you can use Studio Light.rfa from OOTB content which is only a light without any particular light fixture.

Bonjour,

I should look something like this:
