How to render grass?

Post by seapanda » Thu Mar 22, 2018 3:42 am

Is there any quick instruction or tutorial on rendering the texture of grass?

Displacement does not exist in Twilight Render V2, so you can only place a nice grass texture onto the grassy surface of your model and perhaps apply a nice bump map texture to it. Try a very flat material template, not shiny. Try Paint>Flat Set bump no stronger than 1 at first, never go above 5 bump strength.

Twilight Render works with scattering grass components. Render using Unbiased Render Settings such as Easy 08 or Easy 09 when rendering with many vegetation components in a scene, such as grass or trees or bushes or flowers.

Create a grass component with a few grass leaves and copy/spread them on the lawn. Using Twilight's Proxy tool you will save a lot of geometry in the SketchUp scene.

Scatter a few grass components you create using a plugin such as the Fur plugin or the Component Spray Tool plugin - both available at the SketchUcation forum.

Or the easiest is to use Skatter plugin.

Twilight Pro users also have access to our components library which includes grass components for your use in scattering using any of several tools or plugins for SketchUp.
