Creating Lighting

Post by stanulg » Mon Apr 30, 2018 9:07 pm

Hi everybody :
I'm having a problem creating lights. First, I'm using lights that I create in Sketchup 8. When I go to "create" the light(s), do I FIRST select the area where the light is to be shown (i.e. a table top, the floor, etc)THEN select the light source (the lamp itself) ? I watched the video several times. Sometimes, by accident, I CAN "create" the light, then set the parameters for the light. Sometimes, I get stuck and can't get the light "created".

You should follow this tutorial on the basics of creating lights:

see tutorial linked by Chris above or this video tutorial linked below

3 clicks to place a light
  1. anchor,
  2. position,
  3. target.
Do not place lights on wall or ceiling,
move ligth object away from adjacent objects so that they do not intersect or conflict with 3D space taken by another object.
