Emitter and Mirrored Components / Groups

Post by JGolden » Mon Dec 03, 2018 3:55 pm

When I mirror a component with a light emitting surface, the second component is not emitting light.

*The Emitter is on the edge to give the effect of an LED strip.

Can you share the SKP for this?

Any ideas on how to fix this with still using the mirror function?

Yes - change material to Deep Material and set Emitter to also be "Back Facing".

From what I've read Deep Material is a Pro only feature.

Is there anyway to fix the light in the Hobby version?

Hi, I don't know why you want to "Flip" or "Mirror" that component, but if it's to attach them in each ones back, you can rotate one, 180º instead flipping (if the component is perfectly symmetrical).

I'm trying to apply an emitter to surfaces on a component, inside a group of components, that are mirrored.
I can't rotate the group since the stuff that needs to be on the floor would end up on the top.

Sorry, still can't understand the purpose of the mirrored component without the final layout of your project. I don't have SU18

Correct, Pro only.
Hobby users can create a similar emitter material using Kerkythea and save the material library from Kerkythea, and use the library with Twilight/SketchUp. See Kerkythea.net and search this forum for instructions with importing Kerkythea Material libraries.
