How do you get nice chrome material like this
How do you get nice chrome material like this
Here's an example of nice chrome in a render. What does it take to acheive this? Is it the UV mapping? Is there an accessible deep material to borrow? See how it doesn't look like bright colored metal but reflecting evenly and smoothly the light and colors around it. The details of the shapes are read clearly. (Actually there may be both a polished chrome and a brushed nickel represented here.)

Yep, I would like to know how to accomplish that as well.
Re: How do you get nice chrome material like this
Two good resources for up close images like you posted are using Deep Materials > NK Metals. It's already loaded in the Deep Material Library for Pro users. Nk Metals has two chrome templates among others. Another good metal template library is the " Metals_Ashikhmin_MLT" pack that I downloaded from the Kerkythea site.
One observation I made using these metal templates is you really have to pay good attention to your light set ups when doing close range renders. But you can get great results with them.

Thanks Tuna, I'll try those on some good example fixtures. Actually this is a detail of someone's whole bath rendering, but I didn't feel I should post the whole thing.

Thanks Tuna. I also went and got the materials and now I have to look at using them and also learning more about the Deep Materials Editor.
