Fake Emitter Questions

Post by JGolden » Fri Aug 09, 2019 10:06 pm

I'm trying to get the look of edge lit acrylic.
I'm using the Fake Emitter texture and render setting Tech>Progressive>04. Metropolis Light Transport (BPT)

1. How do I get the Fake Emitter to show on both sides of the component?
2. How do I get the Fake Emitter to not cast light?

Using MLT (which is the mechanism used in the Interior/Interior+ presets) ignores the 'Fake' emitter setting and always renders as light emitting. (It also ignores disabling shadow casting.)

You must copy the face over slightly behind the existing face, reverse it to face the other way, and paint the material on the new face.

Tech>Progressive>04. Metropolis Light Transport (BPT) is the same settings as Easy 10 render setting, if you render on Easy 04 for testing, you may find it renders extremely fast, and also, it will not let emitter fake cast light.
