Hi all,
I am new to rendering and am using sketchup pro 2020 to render interiors. I have a particular model that is of a lampshade that is causing me difficulty. Its a download from the 3d Warehouse and it keeps rendering transparant and I can't work out why.
I have no understanding of translucency and alpha settings and thin this is what is causing me issues. I have tried changing the lighting settings but the model just won't display as a glowing pendant light as I'd like it to.
As a hobby user I have read lots of tips and tricks and before purchasing a full blown version I would like to understand if there are a glossary and deeper help information for starter renderers like me (I'm a teaching myself)
Thanks very much for your advise
Ivan

Re: Transparency & Alpa in a model
Make sure your faces are not reversed. (use Monochrome view in SketchUp)
Use Template:Lampshade> test the different templates there.
Subject: Using the Advanced Templates (v2.5)
If your model is built with thickness, or if it is a single face - will effect which material template you use. Also, your light setting inside the model will also matter.

Re: Transparency & Alpa in a model
Here's what it looks like as a single-faced (zero thickness) surface, with "Lampshade" template applied. (Rendered with Easy09 in 1.5mins and using Fastforward Denoise plugin )

Re: Transparency & Alpa in a model
For a shade with a texture image material applied to it, try the "Leaf" Template under "Translucent".
