Cannot import or open XML File of KT

Post by PRSS » Fri Aug 28, 2009 9:27 am

Hello

I do not see any option in the Menu to "Open" an XML file which I already have from KT 2008. Will the Demo Version not open it? I just wanted to test an existing file with the already placed and fine-tuned lights from KT 2008.

With best regards

One more question. Any possibility of importing KT models - like Xfrog Trees, Fritz Hansen Chairs, etc. in the Demo version? And are these possible in the Full Version? Will the KT lights etc. work in this Twilight render?

With best regards

Twilight can't import an XML-file...
For me it doesn't make sense that it should, since it's a build-in render application for SU... ;)
It's a well known fact that SU is very poor in handling high-poly models, so this is once again another reason why you can't import XML-files to SU using Twilight render... ;)

However, with Twilight render you can export to an XML-file, which then can be opened in KT...
One of the reasons for this option is, that in Twilight, you can't use the instancing brush and thereby you can't use some of the high poly tree models...
Please note that the demo version doesn't allow you to export to the XML-format... ;)
If you haven't got a licensed version of Twilight render, then you will need to use the SU2KT plug-in if you want to export your SU scene to KT...

If you really want to try to import an XML- or KZX-file to SU, you can try by using the KT2OBJ exporter...
But I'm sure you'll see that handling high-poly models in SU is impossible... ;)

EXPORTING an .xml file with Twilight is disabled in the demo version. But works excellently in the full version. :D
IMPORTING a Kerkythea scene for use in SketchUp is not yet available... yet. ;)

Hello, Fletch!
You said "IMPORTING Kerkythea scene for use in SketchUp is not yet available ... yet." Inside
2009. Now we are in 2017, and I would like to know if there is still a plan to give Twilight Render this feature.
Thanks!

@cscofano,
Sorry I don't know how I missed your question here.

We can specify a scene as an external proxy now in Twilight. This means that if you have plants from Kerkythea, or cars ready to render in KT, then you can place a proxy that is referencing that KT scene for the plant or car, and it will render with your scene in SU and Twilight.

But no, importing KT scenes into SU for further editing is not in the plan.
