Display the wrong material

Post by designofsoul » Tue Oct 25, 2011 11:46 am

Often the rendered image from SketchUp does not reproduce the material that I gave but the one below..
The number 1 will be GOLD!!! If I move my number is rendered in the exact color, but the top half is dark, almost black, not golden..
I need help enough urgently !

Check to see if your model is showing back faces - and if so, please revert them to show front...
My guess is that you've applied a color to the front face and the texture to the back face, hence it will render the dark color...

To view if your model is modeled with back faces, you click the monochrome view in SU...

SketchUp can hold different materials for front face or back face of geometry. Front and back are defined by Surface Normal. And it usually have different color when you model it, See this Styles Tab for MAC. (similar for Win)

But, render engines often support only materials from FRONT FACE (Twilight can be set to custom priority, see in Settings). So, if a face shows its back to you, don't expect nice results :dftt:

Can you show us a simple SU 2D output with monochrome face style?

If you have screwed your model with lots of reversed faces and group/component materials, I have collected a couple of plugins you can use to "fix" it (obviously after you fixed face orientation first of all).
