Yellow Faces

Post by JDZYN » Tue Dec 15, 2015 10:26 pm

Sometimes I get yellow artifacts on random surfaces when rendering a scene @ 07. High+ quality.
Same scene/light settings/etc renders fine@ lower quality settings.

In this case, I went from rendering @ screen size High+ to rendering 4800px x image.
But it's happened in the past where I'd change from 05.Medium+ to 07.High+ without changing resoluion.

Maybe stop trying to multi-task?

Can't say I've ever seen this problem before. :!

My first guess is that it's a RAM issue.
Are you using 64bit SU and 64bit Twilight?
What are you machine's specifications? (?RAM)

If you save the file, restart your computer, and render again on Easy 07+ without any other programs open do you still get the same error?

There have been a couple reports of a pale-whitish band horizontally across a render, but it only showed up in reflective surfaces (I think). I have definitely never seen a yellow band before... that is really weird. Is it repeatable or it just happens randomly?

I suspect it may have something to do with the sky image, as the band seems to line up across the horizon. What background type are you using?

8GB Ram and a 64Bit OS... though I don't know if I'm using those versions of the programs.

My work-around was to render at easy 05 Med+ .... the results were more than adequate.

This one uses a simple white background color sky.
The band stops there because that is where I aborted the render.... 50+minutes into it :/

It did repeatedly happen on a different file. Again, my work-around was to use a lower quality setting, which again, turned out more than adequate.

As you can see, the 05 Med+ was more than sufficient!

:^:

Definitely an odd problem. If you come across it again, especially if it can be repeated exactly, let us know so we can look into it.
