Distance of lights from other geometry
Distance of lights from other geometry
What is the recommended distance of lights from other geometry? I have been using an inch, is that adequate?
Re: Distance of lights from other geometry
The hard-and-fast rule is that your light should never intersect your geometry. So if you are using 2 inch diameter lights (1 inch radius), then 1 inch is the very minimum.
Otherwise, it depends on your application. A flush mount fixture probably has lights within an inch of the ceiling, while a pendant can be several feet.
From a purely visual standpoint, the closer the light is to the geometry, the stronger the "hotspot" will be (a bright center falling off toward the edges).
