Hi there, I'm trying to do something like
but this is what I get
I just selected the material in Twilights and used the metal-copper setting. How can I do something similar to the other image?
Thanks

Re: Copper copper copper
it would appear that your faces in SketchUp are likely reversed - make sure that you paint only the front faces and that the front faces are showing. Use SketchUp's Monochrome view mode to find the reversed faces. Right-click adjacent faces of the roof which are oriented properly and choose "orient faces" to get SU to automatically orient all of the faces of the roof together in the same direction.
paint the roof faces with the copper color you desire
for a shiny copper look apply Template>Metal>Copper - adjust shininess number to increase or decrease shininess of the surface. 600 would be glossy, 20 would be flat, 2000 would be very shiny - you decide.
for a softer look use Template>Brushed Metal>Copper

Re: Copper copper copper
Hi Fletch, thank for the answer, when I saw how it was coming the first thing I thought was to check if the faces were reversed but they are not they were painted in both side so I removed the color and applied only outside but nothing changed. Any other suggestions?
Re: Copper copper copper
Reflective metal has a lot to do with what it's reflecting. You might get better results with an HDR environmental image (which will provide a more interesting reflection than the physical sky).
In the attached image you can see how the color varies based on how much of the direct sunlight is being reflected. Compare this to your reference image where there is a range of color, more copper on the left side and more 'sky-gray' on the right.

Re: Copper copper copper
If you really just want to capture the copper color without worrying too much about realistic metal (which is always a challenge), then try using the car paint template. Set the color to a copper orange and the reflection color to a bright yellow.

Re: Copper copper copper
Please attach here the .skp model of the roof piece in question with the Twilight Copper material you are using for testing.

Re: Copper copper copper
Try this copper material. (see .skp file attached) It looks realistic to me.
Render with Easy08 for exterior daylight.
I created it with the deep editor. You can use it by copy-pasting the roof into your scene. But you can't edit it without Twilight Pro. (I'm talking to others on this forum who may be hobby users.)
