I've been meaning to do this test for some time. My old dual core did it in 1m 37s but this newer machine is much better. :D

My brother's LAPTOP did it in 51 seconds!! It's a Sony Vaio quad core....much faster than my imac and macbook pro....and also 3 times cheaper!!

Excellent time, Dan. (have you looked into overclocking?)
Great news, Oli, thanks for posting! I know someone was asking just recently about a good laptop for Twilight/SketchUp. :^:

For those interested in getting faster times for their renders:
Here are some wonderful CPU benchmark graphs to consider.

Hi Fletch, I think it may be time for an upgrade. I'm staggered how fast the laptop is....and when it says "Threads: 8"....i'm completely jealous! you can go up to 6GB RAM with this particular laptop, but my brother doesn't use it for artistic purposes....networking, virtualization, IT support etc...

I can safely say i won't be buying a mac again :D it's hard to ignore the fact that the laptop is 2 to 3 times cheaper than a "comparable" mac.

I have a laptop with the same processor as the one Oli posted :^: but with 8GB RAM
It cost me $1500 USD, and works pretty good with SU/Twilight

I should never have read this thread !!! ;)
Now it's quite obvious tha my 6 year old AMD X2 needs an overhaul!
I think I've "won" so far with 3m14s?
Oh I hate switching PC, with all the installing of software, activations and stuff :(
But I could live with 10 times faster (or more) render times...
