'Painted metal' texture?

Post by leedeetee » Wed Nov 19, 2014 1:24 pm

Hi all,

I am just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a good 'painted metal' texture that they may know of? Or how I can go about making one?

The effect I am looking for is similar to that of say, a cannon http://www.devizesheritage.org.uk/media ... annon3.jpg or painted wrought iron railings that we get here in the UK http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qn7aaIljhVA/U ... fence+.jpg, or the painted downpipes and guttering?

Many thanks indeed.
The above is probably a stupid question. Thank-you for your patience.

If you use an almost black paint with very low sheen template, and then a subtle bump map something like hammered metal again with very low bump. Or possibly play with the procedural noise bump and change the scale settings?

paint with dark grey 80% use "paint>eggshell" set IOR to 1.05, shininess to 20. Add bump map if you wish.
