Thank you.

One material I would love to improve is the grey tile in the corridor. I've been struggling to get it to look realistic. It is porcelain tile 12x24 with dark grout. I have attached a photograph of the real tile. I just can't seem to get it to look real.

Nice to see you, Frolf! Welcome back.
Looks like we'll have several lovely additions for the "Gallery" here.

If you have an NVIDIA graphics card you should definitely get the new Fast Forward AI denoise add-on for Twilight, it will cut render times in half or even to 1/3... maybe better in some scenes like yours.

As for the floor tile - it's difficult to tell from your example photo if those tiles are clean or dusty. Nevertheless you'll want to use a Advance Reflection Template and a custom bump and custom spec map - apply the Template>Advanced Reflection>Tile, Mapped and load your Reflection map (specular map) and load your bump map. Adjust the IOR and shininess to whatever you like. (try default first, you can also, even after loading the maps, apply the Advanced Reflection Concrete Mapped template for different set up of reflections and IOR)

You can always then convert the material (after applying a template) to a Deep Material and modify any settings further from there.

I have, in this example, used the bump map also in the specular map slot (images attached) - if you create a proper specular map it will give you even better results.

Hope it helps :hat:

This is with the concrete mapped advanced reflection template.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Fletch, I wouldn't say the tile in the photograph was dusty, it just doesn't have as great of a specular quality as a lot of tiles. I think the specular quality is so subtle that it's difficult to get right. Either it looks really flat or it feels like its too close to ceramic tile. This is porcelain tile with a matte finish. Here is another image of the tile where I'm sure it is clean. I wish those stairs would get finished up :)

I will definitely give all your suggestions a try fletch. I'll let you know how my render times are shortened and if I have success with the tile material based on your suggestions.

Thanks again for such an awesome program.

Oh and by the way Fletch, the fakest looking thing in the example render you posted is the photograph in the background  ! The image you created looks beautiful. The wall texture is unreal.
