Is the bump map inverted?

It does not seem to be as other viewing angles work well. Just the angle of view in that one imho.

I really like the results, even tho it's not really my style. And the blurred backdrop for the exterior was a good choice, it keeps you focused on the interior part :^:

The stone wall does indeed look like it has an inverted bumpmap.. especially in the first render :!

The bump map looks more for a reflective map to me.

From what I can tell it just seems like a monochrome version of the texture, with the contrast increased.

Sort of got to wondering about the bump map for the rock texture also.... Suspect one of the problems is the tonal range across the whole texture image is pretty similar. So.... thought I'd mess with it some. No expert at this but have made a fair amount of bump maps in Gimp that usually seem to work o.k.

Took the texture image into Affinity and selected all the grout / mortar lines and darkened them up a bit. Then took that into Gimp and did my usual stuff to make a bump map. Think it works pretty good. Posting the altered bump map and a quickie render of it. Had the bump set at 1.0 for the render.

Give it a go and see if it works for you :! .
