Landscape

Post by posodrac » Sat Aug 15, 2020 4:09 pm

Hello to my favorite struggling to learn Twilight Render people - this sounded cocky!!! Well… this is my second exterior render and first usage of proxies. I'm tired of modeling so I let others do the hard work. This is one view shot only, modeled the water and two, very raw, very low poly slopes that you might call it "Terrain". Some trees on the back are floating in the air just to depth purpose (slow computer). The file is almost 3,5Gb it could have more detail but when it takes 25 minutes to open in SU and 4 to load the scene in TLR, those are the signs to make anyone to stop. The original image is 3500x1500 and rendered only with Physical Sky, edit inside TLR.

Some nice detail. Especially the water and boat. :gj:

:hat: to Posodrac - great use of environment, water, environment, instances, etc.

My only suggestion is that the whole image is too sharp and over-saturated on my screen. So a little precisely placed blur and some careful de-saturation in places, (right-click>open image in new tab) some judicious use of added noise might be my approach, obviously it's all up to the taste of the artist. :totgm:

This is my attempt, and here's a link to the photoshop doc if you would like to see what I did. This was processed using Pshop 2020

Thank you all  . Fletch, I can't download the file, it asks for credentials. It's true about the over-saturated edition, all of my renderings are (I might have exaggerated lowering "Gama"). I also have a less saturated image, but nothing compared to yours, although it looks too dark for a 10:00 AM/4:00 PM side sun. So I took the freedom to light it a little bit (even burning colors of the rocks) and call it "our thing" ;) .
About the sharpness, I have to confess that I've mess up by accidental stop the render at 20 passes, 10 hours, when experimenting the Denoise feature. Denoise is detail destructive at early stages, so I thought I could overcome by using it only with the trees at back , sky and blue water.
So I think this is the one, with your permission  .
