It’s the camera icon in both exploration render and the main render

No, the dof enable is there but not the icon that sets dof to a particular region.

Ah you need to watch the Twilight dog video for exact controls!

Use the "View Tool" on the Twilight Render tool bar, and read the instructions at the bottom of the screen.
Control+click on your focus point to set focus.

I have no such tool in the render window, I have to go to Sketchup - Extensions - Twilight render and then see the view tool.

Check one. The DOF, as far as I can be sure, is focused on the bottle in the centre of the table. One of the renders I am thinking of is having 3d figures beyond the table, sitting and or standing and the focus being the bottle. I may need to change the f stop for this to be fully convincing but current at 22.

Mike, are you sure you're reading our answers?
I never said the tool was in the render window, is it possible you are reading one thing and thinking something else? Forget what you think you know, and listen to what I'm saying, please. I'm trying to help.

Do you not have the Twilight Render Tool Bar open in SketchUp?

Of course if you would only watch the video tutorial it tells you everything you need to know - including that 22 is way too high F-stop for this scene to notice any blur. You will want to use something like 8 for a start. While trying to decide which F-stop to use - I suggest using the Exploration Render window NOT the normal Render Dialog. Use Exploration Render with DOF enabled try rendering in Exploration Render on Easy 09 to sort of quickly test the DOF. Then you can move to normal render dialog.

You may be right, I have some really good antihistamine on board so while I am certain today is tuesday I cannot be certain which tuesday and yes I do have the tool bar open.

I have watched the tut, it mentions being able to double the f stop but you have two tuts which are basically the same unless they are just mislinked.

I have one or two other little issues so sketchup may be playing up. Skatter license has vanished again too. I know you are trying to help, in the tut the tool is available in the window of exploration render which is why I was looking there.

I see, scene view is the view icon. A little different in description than in the tut or anywhere else but I do take things too literally sometimes, mea too culpa.

I will get there. I'm not bothered by this btw, I know that my little issues make getting knowledge from video tuts more difficult for me but that, is my problem. Thanks for all the hard work you guys do, you make a difference

I centred the selection icon on the bottle of Jack Daniels on the table and yet the focused region is behind it, namely the characters. Not all that realistic I admit especially the girl on the right, a face me component.

I would like the region in focus to be the bottle mentioned ^. Ta.

Not sure if I mentioned the exploration render taking longer than the main render window.
