Dug up an old practice model. Made some changes and a new render experiment. Never tried a sunset render.... Post pro in Gimp. Rendered Easy 9 , !00 passes.

Once again (repeat from the SketchUcation forum), I like the render. :whoot:

Curious though, what did you use Gimp for?

Hi Tuna,
Did you consider putting some object a little closer to the camera and using DOF of the cam focusing on the foreground object to blend the background objects and the sky image blurring them together in the rendering for more realistic image?

ntxdave, thanks for your comment. Did a lot of post pro in Gimp... rendered with physical sky in Twilight and saved an alpha mask along with the render. Used the mask to insert the sky image in Gimp also did a bunch of different color adjustments in Gimp. Having the background sky and the render on separate layers in Gimp gives you more control over each image so hopefully you can end up with a cohesive look to the final image.
Fletch, thanks and it's funny you mentioned DOF..... when I was doing the post pro it kept creeping in my head "this might look better with some DOF"....... going to do some tweaking on the model and see what happens :!

Had another go at this thing.... Made some minor changes in the model. New render was run with minor depth of field
(1.4). Focal point was the back of the chair closest to the camera. Just for general info both renders were done with physical sky setting , the background was put in in post pro. Also there is a "false" front house and patio roof attached to the deck behind the camera and I used a couple of point lights under the roof to act as fill light.Again the post pro was
in Gimp. Cheers

The lighting looks better to me. I also think the shadows are better. I do miss the umbrella though. : ;)

Appealing render. It seems that the light source on the background image and the sun position do not match exactly. Also at such an altitude, the sun color must be warmer IMO, Do you mind giving it another go with a more reflective floor material aslo?

I see what is meant by light direction but basically I love it, brilliant result. :hat:  :^:

Majid , Mike thanks for your comments. Got the sun lined up the best my old eyes could do , might well be off a little bit . Pretty happy with this result I suppose I’ll move on. It was good practice nevertheless :hat:
