Designer Whiskey Glass

Post by Fletch » Tue Jan 18, 2022 4:44 pm

Saw a pretty nice-looking whiskey glass in a photo, and decided to try to model/render it.
Still a long way to go on this, so again, this is a WIP - allowing people to see a progression of work.

obviously the whiskey material doesn't look great.

Issues needing improvement: materials, model, lighting pretty much everything

Whisky lime most liquids, tough to get perfect. Nice glass, me I just use the glass that comes around scented candles my ex used to have. Free once the candle is gone.

Nice, btw.

Model fixed (foreground model) - first model in background.
Lit with HDRI only (first images above were lit with light emitting surfaces)

this particular hdri never failed me. :! :^:

The whiskey material? I did nothing with it. The lighting is apparently extremely important.

Those last images utilize this free HDR "ennis.hdr" (I call it the "aparment HDR" ) in the Spherical Sky environment.

This is a fun scene for testing HDRi studios.
For this image we used the "two tall rectangles" HDRI that comes packaged with Twilight Render.

In the Environment Settings go to the presets pulldown menu (at the bottom) and choose it.
Or anyone can also download the "two tall rectangles" HDRi studio spherical sky for free here:
