Fletch, could you provide some pointers on getting this type of water effect with today's version of Twilight [V2.x] using unbiased presets? I can't seem to get control over opacity, color, reflectivity, etc., without using one of the biased presets 1-7, and biased settings don't give me the anti-aliasing qualities that my projects require, especially with advanced lighting. It seems that when this post began back in 2010 the deep material's opacity settings were still controlled by the Sketchup material's opacity.

I can produce the water color and opacity with just Sketchup materials, but as soon as I convert to deep material to try to get Reflectivity or Bump, my material goes opaque and I'm stumped (maybe I need advice on Refraction/Fresnel/Absorption?). Also, when I use any water/liquid templates with an unbiased preset, I have the same issues, although I do believe I read somewhere that these templates require biased presets 1-7 for best results.

Your Stone House and Pool in this forum topic look great in both day and night scenes, and I noticed that one of your replies in this post said "...with Easy 10 Interior+".

Any help would be greatly appreciated ~

Which image are you looking at? You will not get the unbiased settings to render pool water correctly. If you want better anti-aliasing use the Alternative AA render settings - I like 04b render setting. It's the best quality for speed value.

Pool water is AUTOMATIC in Twilight V2! You don't need to do anything special at all!

I was looking at two of your replies from this topic in specific:
  1. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1271&start=20#p10993
"this one cooked overnight. Interior 10+ (2400x1600)"
All three of the images you just sent are what I'm going for, though... lol - all of your images in this topic are what I'm going for! Very inspiring work

I will give that render setting a try. I'm very aware that things were different back then with the versions.

My main objective is to get some night shots of a project I'm modeling - pool water with IES lighting both in the pool and on the house and retaining walls, very similar to your images in these threads. In fact, Google searching is what led me to this topic, and it also led me to the announcement about pool water being automatic.

Thanks Fletch!

Also, don't miss the Subject: Pool at night which contains a pool scene at night ready-to-render. :welcome:

What preset was used to render that one? When I open it, Twilight says "This scene's render preset could not be found. An installed preset will be used."

It chooses preset 02. Then it all renders totally dark, even on 04b

Could you tweek it to new versions of SU and Twilight and resend?

Got it... had to use the Re-Convert 1.X to 2.X feature... then it chose 05. Medium+. Lights look great. I'll keep working and see what I can do.

Thanks again Fletch.
