Good start... Image
But I'm sure you can make it much better, once you start playing a little more with materials and lights... ;)
Cheers

ooo.. lighting this scene with a cool HDR could really be great here. :)
Great start, Eric!
You may have to play with edge lines to get the seams or joints in your Robot to show up ... check out the refrence section in the manual for starting point on size of lines to use.

for edge line rendering on curved surfaces, be sure to check "weld" box, and set your smoothing angle to 30 to start.

I confess EVA was my inspiration. Along with a the gun on a funky alien I saw on the Luxology (modo) site. They eyes are the standard SU texture "Sketchy lines h1" just colored up. I made it an emiter and the render made it much brighter, light orange in fact, so I had to adjust them in PS.

Materials make all the difference. EVA? I thought she was called EVE in the English version. When you said EVA, I thought immediately of a Japanese anime.

well, maybe, but I could swear Wal-E (or however it's spelled) said "Eeeevaaaa"
