Low Table

Post by JeZ » Sun Mar 13, 2011 3:43 pm

Hi gang,
This is a new WIP of mine.

This table is already built and looking pretty in my client's living room. When I was there, I grabbed my camera and found I forgot my memory card in my card reader. :hat:

A bit of background: This a rather classic shape, but I am very happy with the shape and look. The top is made of medium gray quartz and the base is natural varnished walnut.

The walnut texture is american walnut from Arroway. I heavily modified the color/lightness/contrast to match the color and feel of my varnished walnut. I am very happy with it. The stone material is nothing close to quartz... I am rendering right now a new version with a somewhat better stone mat. I havent been able to find any proper quartz countertop texture, whatever the color. :(

Dont hesitate to C&C.

Jerome

true, looks nothing like any quartz I know of. :?
Hope you can find a sample (visit nearby stone/counter top provider with your camera in a pocket?)
my quick web search yielded little.

yeah... :!

There are small pictures on every quartz manufacturers' website, but not quite tilable. I guess I will need to bit the bullet and fix manually one of those.

I did download Pixplant demo and it seams very good for that kind of texture, but I am not quite sure I am willing to pay 200$ for it...

my second attempt.
I guess it will be exposed aggregate concrete for a while...

I will need to fix that strange dark line on the left leg :!

Thanks I'll check that out.

Meanwhile I found that quartz manufacturer:

http://www.cambriausa.com/

There are nice and big images of all of their colors (not tileable...)

Cambria is the best!

They have that scroll viewer thingy on their website. If you right click -> open image, it becomes big and gorgeous. :) I made "seamless" a couple of them.

I guess I cant share my modified versions... :!
