a quick test

Post by Pg09 » Sat Aug 29, 2009 10:45 pm

I rendered this scene last year in Kerkythea and thought it would be a good idea to test it how different the workflow was.
I really like TRender so far, i think it could be a final solution for me...

I used my fav: MLT, let it cook for 6 hours+ but it's still grainy. I guess thats because used much more bump mapping now - probably unnecessary...
All in all TR looks like an excellent tool.

The stone wall on the left looks distorted. We see it in a sharp angle, maybe thats why? I mean that cant be a problem. I replaced that piece and took a shot from another angle and it looked ok, but when i tried again the original view i got the same result.

Is there a forum setting that shows attached pictures in full size without the scrollbars? -Edit-ok i found that! :)

Ok this, is preset 09 and it cleared out beautifully and faster then MLT. Or is this because i took down all the bump maps?
The corner is still distorted though.

From another angle. That piece of stone wall still seems weird. It's not reversed or a doubled face, but it could be a modeling problem,
as this is probably my sloppiest model (got it from someone else, modified many times).

I have seen where there just seems to be something 'weird', and re-built the weird piece form scratch, and it rendered just fine...

keep up the great images!

You should think about lighting this with HDR and rendering with same setting.

You know the Outdoor Progressive method Easy08 would clear much more quickly (but not in the shadows with HDR).

Thanks Fletch.
I found out that the weird spot was caused of double faces - and that was caused by TR turning on hidden layers, so that is solved now.

When i said Preset09 i meant Preset08 of course ;) .

I never tried HDRI it's really time to learn about it...

Adam
