Electric Chair

Post by Boofredlay » Mon Aug 31, 2009 3:03 am

This is a model I did for the Visual Puns and Puzzles thread. I wanted to test out the bumpmap on TR. I have a bunch of images so far but this is my favorite.

Very nice and fun picture ! 8-)

There is one weird spot i found - the cable starting from the plug casts shadows on the wall but when it meets the floor it disappears :o
Interesting. :) Maybe the floor mat is not receiving shadows?
Cheers,

Adam

Thanks for the kind words.
The floor is receiving shadows, the angle is just not visible from that view. This one shows the shadow on the floor.

I really like that first shot, Eric. Good one! With a bit of development it would be a gallery image for sure. ;)

Just before I left for work this morning I decided to set this up for a progressive render as I have never done one successfully (paitently 8-) )
So I chose a new view, set the resolution to 1000x1000, selected the MLT(BPT) setting, hit render and left the house. Having errands to run and family to attend to I did not reach my computer until 13 hours later (145 passes). Here is the result. I am super pleased with it however I am not seeing the shadow on the floor. Maybe it is the angle of the shot I don't know. Let me know what you think. ;)

 whoa! you SHOULD be pleased, it's fantastic. :)

Interior 10 is the best at filling in the indirect light, treating caustics, etc, so... I'm guessing the shadows are there, only quite light because it's filled in the shadows.

Save the image as HDR if you haven't re-rendered anything over the top of it yet, then use an external HDR image editor for tonemapping it so that you can get those shadows back.
