YASRT

Post by Dan » Tue Mar 24, 2009 12:32 pm

Don't panic, it's a Twilight work too, despite the name (YASRT = Yet Another Sponza Render Try :) ).
PT-P, 1015 passes, 6h14 minutes (sincerely I forgot it rendering!), no intervention other than inserting a sky background.

:?: :?: :?:

looks great!

I would lift the dark areas w/ tonemapping before stopping the rendering using the camera tab exposure.
I would insert a background image using Twilight's sky.

but post-pro is completely legal...

if we get some great renderings from you guys it would be really great.

It has a sky background, Fletch.
Actually what is missing are more clouds, but I was in a hurry to take my Dia (http://www.kerkythea.net/phpBB2/files/dia_1_106.jpg) to a walk and was looking for a nearly clear sky to fit with the strong mid-day light, with just some rare clouds to be seen between the buildings - no luck  All the backgrounds I tried with had the clouds covered by the building, so I decided to stick with this one, having just a little pale cloud (as you can see, at a more close look  ).
Agreed with a little tonemapping, but I was interested to see the result straight from TWL (see again my quote of myself :D )

I meant that you can insert the background using Twilight.. no need for post-pro.
and you can tonemap in twilight before stopping the render (using Settings>camera tab panel) , so, again, no need for post!

but yes, I'm happy you have found some joy in it's use.

I guess we should have an internal sponza render contest for some website content creation... I have a good optimized version of it in SU somewhere....

It's exactly the way I inserted the sky, Fletch ;) but I liked the global lighting, so I didn't use Settings/Camera/Exposure.

guess I was confused because you said the word 'intervention' which implied to me that you did it in post pro... sorry for confusion.
