These would be better if you plan ahead with materials knowing the render settings you will use.
It appears you use Low+ render setting - which actually is a great render setting for these situations... but it has limitations.
Low+ doesn't do well with specular highlights or with metals. So, use high quality metalic textures, without applying any material template to the texture, just let it be.
For the floor you are using a specular reflection, but try using the Perfect Reflection template instead - it will not look as realistic, but since you are not getting the benefit of specular reflections anyway from the low render setting, at least you will get lovely reflections, and it will render even more quickly for you.
Finally, use small radius for lights so that the soft shadow edges are quite small, resulting in better-looking edges and faster render times.

Thank you, Fletch. This is the perfect solution to my problem.
I was having painfully slow render times with particular model-- well now that I think about it, just the views with huge areas of wood flooring and metal.
Switching now to a modified "polished concrete"
Here's hoping for quicker renders!
