Decided to post this for the " non power" users of Twilight like me. This definitely is not a finished image. Back story. I like to do quick renders of assets that I model to check out textures and such. Modeled the retro pole lamp in the scene and couldn't resist setting up a room to test it in. The rooms about 12'x 14'. The only light is 3 point lights in the pole lamp. Set the power to 60 watts and RGB value to match. For the newer Twilight users all the info you need to set up your own lamps and light fixtures is in "Tips, Tricks and Tutorials" Have a read. Crazy thing is I like where this image is going as a test. Think I'm going to tweak my materials and scene a little and let it run. I think I'll end up with a cool image.
Had the time to play with this scene again. Changed up some of the props and tweaked with lighting a little. Not so blown out looking. A little more "moody", which I like. Comments and suggestions always welcome........

Agree, this is looking great so far, looking forward to seeing the progress.
The wood texture mapping on the wall art piece could be improved.

Thanks Fletch. Totally agree with with your comment on the texture on the wall art. Clueless why I did it that way when I modeled it ? Brain fade I suppose. Need some better carpet too. Hope to cook some more scenes soon. Maybe try some different wall colors. Also crossing fingers I don't fry this laptop doing all night renders like I did the last one.

Re: Pole Lamp Test
I like it. Yes, there can always be tweaks but it is better than mine. Oh, yes, I didn't do one.
Re: Pole Lamp Test
Thanks Dave. I'll tell you I want to see some tests from you. Heck this scene is just a box some props and 3 Twilight "light bulbs" and hit the go button. Get some props off the SU warehouse and have a go. A few hours here and there while the t.v.'s running in the background and before you know it you'll be amazing family and friends.....

Actually, if you look at this thread Fredo6 Animator plugin for SketchUp you will see my latest attempts at rendering (particularly the last 2 pages). There are several posts in the thread centered around being able to use Twilight Render with Fredo's Animator plugin which is still in beta. I have tried some others but in the SketchUcation site (could not find a link to them quickly) but I did not want to distract from your work. I like the retro stuff you do. I grew up in the 50's and a lot of your stuff has a 50's/60's flair to it. And I enjoy them.tuna57 wrote:Thanks Dave. I'll tell you I want to see some tests from you. Re: Pole Lamp Test
Dave, Checked out your animation stuff. Pretty good for a "self professed newbie". Heck you have one up on me. I really haven't done much with animations. Heck it's hard enough to get the big wigs to look at the presentation boards generated off my models. Animations would fly way over their heads. I know you've expressed interest in learning to do stuff outside your car wash work. If you can figure the animation stuff out you can surely learn the other types of rendering. Just takes practice and experimenting.
