Washtub shot
Re: Washtub shot
Yes, I have downloaded and imported it. Of course looked nowhere that good as I was playing with it.. Seems legit. I assume, that I woulkd need to put another layer on it to achieve the grout then? (In your render there is none) Still on it, using the layering from Chris' material to get mine right with mediocre success
Re: Washtub shot
If you want grout to have different properties (rougher, lower IOR), then yes you will need to add another material layer. It can get complicated! Honestly, in your case it might just be easier to model the tiles so you have a separate modeled grout line (which of course can be time consuming but if you don't have a ton of tiles, it is probably faster than trying to get the material to work just right).
Re: Washtub shot
I have been thinking about that, but the whole point of this is just learning stuff I can't do yet considering this, it would be "cheating" under these circumstances (Besides, there are about 25m2 of them tiles sized about 20cm x 25cm)
Re: Washtub shot
Good for you! Definitely, the only way to be an expert is practice and trial.
Re: Washtub shot
I edited the image file used as the mask to have grout lines already in my version. So the color in the grout should be replaced by an image file, and the reflection map could be used to modify the shininess on the grout portion.
