A DOUBLE W.I.P

Post by Gareth » Tue Jan 24, 2017 12:35 am

There are 2 works in progress going on here :

1. I have been busy making trees for the past year or so and have started to test them in Twilight.
2. I am messing around with 'Skatter'.

Here is a scene with one of my Beech trees with grasses populated using Skatter.

Hi Gareth - congrats on both - looking good!
Skatter's simple implementation for instant lawn is definitely my favorite feature of the plugin.
Remember to use Easy08 with Skatter renderings because of the high poly count.

Thanks Nick.

Thanks Fletch......yep, used Easy 08, with a bit of Bloom (probably a little too much).

Leafless Poplar trees in winter.

Fairly heavily populated in Skatter with more than 50 trees plus the all of the grasses. It slowed the render down quite a lot (11 minutes per pass), but still looks reasonable after only 10 passes.

Used a little Bloom, took the temperature down to 6300 to give a little late afternoon 'yellowness' to the image. Pretty straightforward and simple considering there is no other PP. Twilight handles it beautifully.

Summer version of Poplar tree.

There is a strong case here for using Twilight's Soft Shadows.

Part of my Jacaranda collection (a difficult tree to model).

The Jacaranda in flower was a little easier than the leafed version......and a nice small manageable file size of 7.4 Mb.
