Wine & Cheese - New Images
Re: Wine & Cheese - New Image
try the "advanced reflection" template > semi-gloss paint
or try the "Polished concrete" for a much more glossy finish on the table. (see second image below)
you may want to play with the settings. This is with default semi-gloss settings: polished concrete: maybe even could go to 500 or 1000 shininess
here's a photo I found on the web of a wood similar to the one you are trying to create:

You might want a doily or that nice table will get scorched.
Re: Wine & Cheese - New Image
Again Fletch, thanks for the tips. Went back into the model and checked the table tops material set up. Have no idea how or what I might have done but lost my bump map and shine down to nothing. Must have forgot or messed something up when changing textures around in the model.
Here's another shot at it. Made some minor adjustments in the lights. Think I got the table top looking better......
Edit.... looking at image think I might have a little to much bump on the table top ....... might get good at this one day

Re: Wine & Cheese - New Images
Think I finally got a pretty good image...... have to wait until all the wizards chime in . Appreciate the input from Fletch and everyone else. This last render I tweaked on the lights a little and think I finally got the reflective map loaded in the right spot on the Deep Material Editor side of things...... Have to wait until the judges take a vote.
Edit - Forgot to mention this image is straight out of Twilight , bumped up the exposure some before saving. Ran image through Topaz DeNoise , no other post pro. Rendered on Easy 10 , 50 passes.

Re: Wine & Cheese - New Images
Wow - what restaurant was that taken in?
Re: Wine & Cheese - New Images
Great to see the progress on this! The shine on the table is a great improvement.
Re: Wine & Cheese - New Images
I opened your image in full screen (right-click>view image in new tab) and it looks great!
I looked at it on two screens. On the first screen (LG flat screen monitor which has been well color calibrated), it looked a bit flat, boring. But the version Alvydas made looked ok (maybe slightly too much post-pro) But on the second screen (laptop that is not well color calibrated) your image looks really great. It shows how important the computer screen is.
Very well done!
I'm attaching my 2 cents worth of post-pro. I know you already did some adjustment. I wanted to emphasize a bit more depth and crispness in the scene with adding a bit more realism emphasizing light from top left to bottom right.

Re: Wine & Cheese - New Images
Fletch, Again thanks for your tips. I'll have to get into Gimp and try some things with light effects. Will be something new to learn .
