Pulitzer Foundation - Tadao Ando

Post by Dylan » Mon Oct 05, 2009 5:13 pm

I thought it was about time I tried and external render.
I was reading through one of my architecture books yesterday and came across this photo. I absolutely love the building and thought it would make an excellent render, so I modeled it and had a go.

It still needs work.

This is rendered on 8 and about 60 passes.
I'm not sure what causes the sparkles I see or how I get rid of them.

I need a different texture below the water as it is tiling badly.
Maybe a touch more bump on the concrete.
I need to change the material on the window sills because the NK zinc I chose does not seem to show up as it should.

Sparkles can be result of incorrect material settings, for example some KT libraries (user made at forums) do contain materials that do not obey energy rules.

oh my god, thats pretty much a photo when you sort the water. cant believe how realistic it looks. The sheen on the concrete looks amazing, did you use a template for it?

Thanks.

The sheen on the concrete is Template, Stone Polished.
The water is one of Majid's pond.

Update with minor changes.
Sparkles gone, increased concrete bump by .3, changed window frame colour and a different water bottom mat.
